Remember
When the time comes in your life that you have reached the point of
exhaustion (physically or spiritually) what is your reaction? Jonah said
from the belly of the great fish, "When my soul fainted within me, I
remembered the LORD" (Jonah 2:7). Sometimes God will bring us to such a
point in our life to draw us closer to Himself. Sometimes though we bring
ourselves to this point of fatigue through our own failures and
disobedience to the LORD, but we can rejoice and praise God because even
then He wants to use that situation to bring us closer! However, this
doesn't always happen because there is a response that is required on our
part that we so often forget; when Jonah came to this point in his life
he simply "remembered the LORD". It's so easy to forget the LORD in our
lives, especially in what we like to call the "small things", but a truth
we need to grasp tightly in our hearts is that the repeated failure of
forgetting the LORD in these "small things" is what eventually leads to
forgetting Him in the "big things". We desperately need to remember the
LORD in every part of our life, through the big and small decisions we
make every day. In the Old Testament, the children of Israel often
remembered the LORD by burning incense unto Him which ultimately
illustrated the fact that their hearts, thoughts, and prayer were
continually fixed on Him alone and were always rising upwards to Heaven.
Can this be said of you?
