Dominated by God
"Let not any iniquity have dominion over me." - Psalm 119:133
A dominating person can be likened unto a self-serving, wicked tyrant that
rules over his subjects with full authority; and sin dominates people to the
same degree. A person dominated by sin has literally become a slave to that
sin and a person dominated by God has literally become a slave to God. How
drastically are you dealing with the sins and compromises in your life? Do
you see sin as Jesus did when He said, "if thy right hand offend thee, cut
it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell"?
(Matthew 5:20) People dominated by sin and compromise find themselves
offended at such statements and say, "Jesus didn't really mean that! Let me
tell you what He was really saying!" Do you believe that God would be unjust
in casting you into the depths of hell for eternity because of even the
slightest thought of sin in your life? If this offends and troubles you then
satan has done to you what he has done to multitudes throughout the ages...he
has deceived and ensnared you into the domination of sin. "Whosoever therefore
shall break one of these least commandments...shall be called the least"
(Matthew 5:19). We will never see God for who He really is until we see Him
in the light of His sinless Glory! "Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am
a man of unclean lips...for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."
(Isaiah 6:5) Isaiah saw God not because he was sinless, but rather because he
realized and dealt with the fact that every sin and compromise that he was
guilty of, no matter the size, was capable of totally dominating his very
being; that is the meaning of being pure in heart. "Blessed are the pure in
heart: for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8) Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they have been dominated by God.
