The Seed of Life

"The LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live." - Deuteronomy 30:6

Why does God convict and save lost sinners? Were we saved so that we might become great soul winners, faithful church members, Bible teachers, missionaries to the unreached? Such fruit is to be expected when true spiritual conversion takes place in the lives of people, but never mistake the fruit for the seed as bad seed can also produce fruit that appears to be pleasing. Spiritual conversion means "being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible" (1 Peter 1:23). When we were born in the flesh we automatically inherited the seed of sin, but when we were born in the Spirit we inherited the seed of Almighty God, eternal and incorruptible. And the reason He has given you His seed is so that you will worship and love Him "with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live." An experienced gardener knows that his plants will live long and produce strong, healthy fruit if the seed is properly planted and cared for. Do you know that God isn't concerned as much with the works in your life as He is the reason you are doing them? He knows that if our motivations are rooted in Him alone that our works too will be healthy, long-lived, and a good representation of Him. Remember the Words of Jesus in John 15:5, "Without me ye can do nothing." Oh how much of our life is dry and empty as we do so many things without Him! Unless He is the seed of everything in our lives the roots thereof will quickly dry up and perish and no true fruit will be seen; how much of your life can be described as exactly that? When we allow His seed to be firmly planted in our hearts and endeavor with all our soul and might to maintain our worship to Him the fruits will flourish naturally. If your life and the fruits thereof are dry and dead then it's time to plant your life in the incorruptible seed of God and "love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live."
