Coming Down From the Mountain
"Jesus came and touched them...and when they had lifted up their eyes,
they saw no man, save Jesus only." - Matthew 17:7,8
Looking unto the Lord and dwelling on Him from the spiritual mountain peak is
always astonishing..."his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white
as the light". (Mat 17:2) However, we often fail to realize what our Lord
desires to teach us in these times...."as they came down from the mountain,
Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man". (Mat 17:9) Many walk
away glorying in their experience and they are unable to learn how to genuinely
worship Jesus Christ in their day to day life. In so doing they fall into
satan's trap of worshipping the experience instead of worshipping Jesus Christ
Himself and the result is that God cannot receive glory from our lives. Men will
always boast of their religious experiences, but very few are to be found
boasting of Jesus Christ. Paul said, "God forbid that I should glory, save in
the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ". (Gal 6:14) Never allow the experience
itself to reign in your heart, but learn to worship Jesus Christ alone in all
that you do. When you come down from the mountain, what do you see? Do you see
"Jesus only"? Have you learned how to worship Him alone or are you relishing the
experience?
