The Faith in Waiting

"Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." - Psalm 27:14

One of the greatest tests of faith a servant of the Lord will ever face is the time of waiting. God will often test our faith and commitment to His will by sending us straight into the midst of such a trial, even when the path of obedience is clearly marked. While many fail to realize the significance, the great beauty of such a time is that the servant is called to "be of good courage" and then the Lord Himself "shall strengthen thine heart" in ways that we would never experience otherwise. Resting in His strength comes naturally to us when we are already walking through a door that He has opened in our life, but how many of us allow the Lord to strengthen our heart when we are unable to see clearly? Often we pray to the Lord and ask Him to do something for us, but then we are unwilling to wait for His perfect timing. While He doesn't promise to always show us clearly what His plans are, He always offer the strength needed to obtain the clear faith that is required to wait on Him. Does your faith "wait on the LORD"?
